By combining engineering precision with sustainable design, we deliver misting systems that cool without wasting water, while preserving the beauty of outdoor environments.
How We Started
In 2015, our founder Kenji Tanaka, a mechanical engineer and avid gardener, faced a familiar summer problem: his newly renovated Kyoto terrace became unusable during June through September due to oppressive heat. After researching global cooling solutions, he discovered high-pressure misting systems used in Middle Eastern countries and Australian farms—but nothing designed specifically for Japan's climate, architectural aesthetics, or water scarcity concerns.
Kenji spent two years testing, refining, and partnering with local manufacturers to develop the first Lunar Ocean Mist prototype: a system that delivered ultra-fine mist, minimal water waste, and seamless integration with traditional Japanese garden design. His Kyoto restaurant partners loved it. By 2017, word-of-mouth demand led to the formal founding of Lunar Ocean Mist as a company dedicated to bringing outdoor comfort to Japan.
